Keeping it local to celebrate five years

For Delta Cup’s fifth anniversary, we wanted to highlight some of the amazing professional talent we have in the Vancouver area. We’re pleased to announce two incredible professional showcases this year, both featuring some of Canada’s highest ranked pro couples.

Meet Woodrow and Neli

Saturday night you’ll get to see Woodrow Will and Neli Petkova in action with a spectacular five-dance Ballroom showcase. Woody and Neli are a relatively new partnership, but within a few short months of starting to dance together stunned the nation by finishing second in a hotly-contested Professional Ballroom final at the NDCC Canadian Closed Championships.

Originally from Bulgaria, Neli Petkova has been competing and training in ballroom, latin and showdance for the last 18 years. She was ranked 7th in International Ballroom by USA Dance. While dancing for USA, Neli managed a dance studio where she trained a team of instructors and helped build a dance community. Her focus is on International Ballroom but she teaches all styles of dance. With the passion and drive she has for this athletic artform, Neli is dedicated to demonstrating the highest technical level of dancing as possible. Dance is her focus in life. Now, Neli also applies her knowledge and training towards her goals of cultivating the dance community in the Vancouver area and sharing her joy of dance with others.

Woodrow Wills is a professional ballroom dancer and instructor from Vancouver, Canada. He regularly trains with top coaches from Italy and actively competes internationally. In 2015 he had the honor to represent Canada at the world championships. He enjoys the challenge of teaching students of all ages and skill levels. He uses many different methods to accommodate each student’s learning style and bring the best out of their dancing. Woodrow and Neli are working toward the goal of winning the Canadian Championship and representing Canada in November at the world championships in Malaysia.

Meet Han and Crystal

Han Ly and Crystal Li will be performing an energetic five-dance Latin showcase Sunday night. This remarkable couple placed second in the NDCC Canadian Closed Championship in the Professional 10-Dance Division in both 2017 and 2018.

Han and Crystal are familiar faces in the Vancouver area, and have operated Imperial Ballroom in Richmond for several years. They’ve been partnered for over 10 years. They train extensively in the UK and the USA, working with some of the world’s most highly respected teachers such as Shirley Ballas, Eugene Katsevman and Jonathan Wilkins. They are active competitors and focused on building a strong competitive dance community. They coached the BC Closed Juvenile and Junior Latin Champions who were crowned at last year’s Delta Cup BC Championship events.
